Enjoy more relaxed, enjoyable walks with your dog. The Leash Manners Mini-Assessment is a focused one-on-one session designed to identify why your dog pulls, loses focus, or struggles on the lead while giving you practical guidance to improve your walks together.

What makes this assessment different?

Not every dog needs a full Behaviour Assessment. If your main challenge is pulling on the lead or struggling to enjoy everyday walks, this Mini-Assessment provides targeted guidance focused specifically on leash manners and walking skills.
You’ll leave with practical techniques and a clear plan you can start using immediately to build calmer, more enjoyable walks with your dog.

What we’ll work on

• Understanding why your dog pulls or loses focus.
• Improving loose-lead walking skills.
• Building better communication and teamwork during walks.
• Increasing your dog’s focus around everyday distractions.
• Practical exercises you can continue at home.

Assessment details

• One-on-one session with a qualified trainer.
• Held in a suitable outdoor walking environment.
• Suitable for dogs over 4 months of age.
• Approximately 45–60 minutes.
• Ideal for dogs with lead-pulling or everyday walking challenges.

Is this the right option?

This Mini-Assessment is ideal if your dog’s main challenge is walking politely on the lead. If your dog also displays fear, aggression, severe anxiety, or other behaviour concerns, a full Behaviour Assessment is likely to be the better place to start.
